Why We Are Here

In a sentence, this is why we are here; to love lost and hurting people into a life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. This is so much more than a "mission statement". It is our reason for living and loving and is the driving force behind and around all we do or desire to do for the One who loved us into a life changing relationship with Himself.

With God, nothing happens by accident or without purpose. Why did God place Woodstock Bible Church in this particular place at this particular time? What is His purpose for our existence?

Thankfully the answer is not up to us but comes right from the heart of God. God is love and He demonstrates His love through Jesus Christ who freely and unconditionally gives His life to any and all people who trust in Him. God also desires to show His love through His followers as they freely and unconditionally love any and all people who are in need of His love.

Jesus said these words, "The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-19

We are all in desperate need of good news, freedom, recovery, and release. We are the poor, the prisoner, the blind and the oppressed. As a church; as followers of Jesus Christ, we are recipients of God's favor and are called to proclaim Him to fellow lost and hurting human beings.
